Errol Dunkley

A veteran reggae singer known for his romantic songs, Errol Dunkley released numerous hits from the Rocksteady era through the early reggae period and was especially active in the UK during the late 1970s.

Related Artists:

Gregory Isaacs, John Holt

Born in Kingston in 1951, Dunkley is believed to have made his debut at the age of 14, recording Love Me Forever under Prince Buster. He then gained recognition with songs like Please Stop Your Lying and You’re Gonna Need Me, released under Joel Gibson (Joe Gibbs).

In the 1970s, working with Rupie Edwards, he re-recorded some of his Joe Gibbs-era tracks, releasing songs such as Three In One and Darling Ooh.

One of his signature songs, Black Cinderella, recorded with Jimmy Radway, became a major hit in Jamaica and remains a classic to this day. Dunkley also co-founded African Museum with Gregory Isaacs, releasing the hit Movie Star and achieving great success during the early reggae period. However, the partnership with Isaacs was short-lived. Dunkley then launched his own label, Silver Ring, releasing several songs, though none reached major commercial success. He continued recording with various producers.

In the late 1970s, his cover of John Holt’s OK Fred charted in the UK pop charts, and he had further success with songs like Betcha By Golly Wow.

In 2005, he recorded an album at Jamaica’s legendary Studio One, and he continues to perform live, mainly across Europe.

Update: He is currently recording a new album in 2025, which is scheduled for release soon.
Anthony Selassie

Anthony Selassie

Anthony Selassie is a dynamic and gifted roots reggae singer from Jamaica. He embodies the essence of authentic reggae tradition while blending it with themes that speak to today’s headlines. His music flows with the sweet groove of ska and the thrilling intensity of Nyabinghi drumming, making him a truly classic performer. His sound reflects a conscious and uplifting Rastafarian spirit.

Selassie’s original music represents the true heart of classic Jamaican reggae. Whether revolutionary in sound or romantic in message and melody, his songs always carry a positive message — something often missing in modern popular music. His music is a voice against corruption and violence, and a true heartbeat of spiritual awakening.

Well-known for hits like “Ya Ho”, recorded with Louie Culture and the Harmony House label, Selassie has been active as a songwriter and performer since the early 1980s. His early work includes tracks like Busy Body and Variety on Rhythm Track Records, as well as songs for Sugar Minott’s Youth Promotion label.

Beyond performing, Selassie is also an accomplished recording engineer. He worked at Channel One Studio alongside legends such as Bunny Striker Lee and Niney The Observer, and collaborated with artists like Delroy Wilson, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and Black Uhuru — just to name a few. He has continued to write and perform, working with artists such as Cocoa Tea and Beres Hammond.

Selassie founded his own label, St. Michael 777 Music, producing several singles and his debut CD Rising Above. Through his own label, he fully expresses his talent and shares his music with the world.

Most of Selassie’s recordings use live instruments and are often mixed on analog consoles to create a rich, heavy, and warm sound. He continues to live and record in Kingston, Jamaica.
